Tokarski And The Admirals Silence The Phantoms 2-0

NORFOLK, Va. – Philip-Michael Devos’ fourth goal of the season and 17 saves by Dustin Tokarski proved to be enough as the Norfolk Admirals (28-18-1-2) shut out the Adirondack Phantoms (22-23-1-1), 2-0, on Friday night at Norfolk Scope. The Admirals and Phantoms face off again tomorrow night at Scope.
Pierre-Cedric Labrie scored his ninth goal of the season while Cory Conacher picked up a pair of assists. The victory was Tokarski’s 20th victory of the season and his third shutout on the campaign.

After a scoreless opening period, Devos gave the Admirals a 1-0 lead less than four minutes into the second period. Conacher sent a pass from the high slot to Devos at the top of the right faceoff circle. Devos quickly fired a shot over the glove of Phantoms netminder Michael Leighton at 3:35.

Labrie capped off the scoring with an empty net at 18:38 of the final period.

Dustin Tokarski (20-11-0) turned aside all 17 shots he faced in the victory. Phantoms goaltender Michael Leighton (16-17-0) allowed one goal on 27 shots in defeat.

Neither team had a power play opportunity in the contest.

The Admirals and Phantoms meet for the final time at Scope in the regular season tonight with puck drop set for 7:15 p.m.

About these ads

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......

hello ! I have a question for you ! I’m from Victoriaville in Quebec and I’m a big fan of Devos, which was our best player. What do you think about him ? Do you think he’s ready for the AHL ?

    • Ken Peacock says:

Devos has been a great addition to the Admirals lineup. He showed what he was able to do in the ECHL as the Everblades leading scorer at the time. While he may not be burning it up in the AHL he is definitely a AHL caliber player. He is always hustling and very rarely makes any mistakes.

thanks a lot for your reply, I hope Philipp will help your team as he helped our, great guy and great player. And he performs as well during the playoffs than during the regular season, 58 points in 50 games with Victoriaville and Gatineau. A real leader.
