Admirals Drop Game 2 To The IceCaps 2-5

By Ken Peacock

The IceCaps, after dropping the first game to the Admirals, rebounded to take the second game with an identical 5-2 score. Both teams played a solid back and forth game until the Admirals, Tyler Johnson, finally put the puck in the net early in the second period. The IceCaps answered back with less than a minute to go in the second period with a Julian Melchiori goal to end the period at two goals each. Midway thru the third Garth Murray of the IceCaps scored to take the lead. The Admirals tied it back up when Trevor Smith put in a rebound with 5 minutes left in the game. A few bad moves led to Admiral penalties from Gudas, and Ashton. The IceCaps took advantage of the penalties in the form of goals from Eric Lampe and Zach Redmond. Riley Armstrong sealed the IceCaps victory with an empty net goal. Admirals goalie, Jaroslav Janus, played the whole game and took the loss.

With two games in the books the Admirals took the bus and headed back to St John’s for the third and final pre-season game. The puck will drop at 12:30pm at the MileOne Centre in St John’s this Sunday. Shortly after the game we should know more about the Admirals roster. Tampa Bay should have made its final cuts by then. Coach Cooper will have the uneasy task of making the final cut’s, but a necessary move. From there it is back to Norfolk for practice, a meet and greet with the Admirals, and opening night. In less than a week we will finally have ADMIRALS HOCKEY!

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
