Admirals Vs. Hershey Bears, Friday 10/14/2011 And Saturday 10/15/2011

By Ken Peacock

The Admirals took their first weekend series from the Checkers. They are sitting on top of the league for goals scored, but are also a less flattering third place for goals allowed. Carter Ashton was named the AHL Reebok player of the week. Ashton had a great weekend offensively as he managed to hit the back of the net three times.

That was last weekend and this week the Hershey Bears come to town for a Friday night game before both teams head on back to Hershey for the Bears home opener. While I am not one to miss many games, I must take a long earned vacation to Florida, and on Monday Oct 17 I will at least get one game in. Tampa Bay will be taking on the Florida Panthers for their home opener. Hopefully I will get a look at former Admirals Blair Jones and Matias Ritola.

Back to Hershey….Hershey, like the Admirals, had a good weekend as well. Two games played and wins against the Binghamton Senators, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Bears have a some familiar names on the Bear Roster are Keith Aucoin, Kyle Greentree, and former Admiral Danny Richmond.

I wish the Admirals good luck this weekend and plan on being back to Scope for the last game of the Binghamton Senators weekend series the following week.

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
