Game Day: Admirals Vs. Providence Bruins

By Ken Peacock

The Admirals, fresh off of a shootout win against the Phantoms, roll into Providence their first match against the Bruins. The Boston Bruin affiliate sit in the number 2 spot in the AHL’s Atlantic Division with 9 points. They are 2 points behind the St John’s IceCaps. Providence has not played since Sunday where the lost 3-2 to the Albany Devils in overtime. Providence has had plenty of time to practice and rest in preparation for the Admirals tonight. They are led by leading scorer, Zach Hamill (4G 3A 7Pts -1 +/-) and former Admiral Trent Whitfield.

Norfolk comes in to Providence sitting side by side with Hershey. Both teams currently have 11 points on the young season. Fresh off of a win in Glenn Falls, the Admirals will be playing their third game this week on their long 9 game road trip. Norfolk will be on the road until Wednesday November 9 when they return to the friendly confines of Scope to Host the WB/S PEnguins.

Leading the Admirals in scoring is Carter Ashton (7G 4A 11Pts 0 +/-). Ashton is playing his first full season with the Admirals and is currently leading all AHL rookies in scoring. Cory Conacher (4G 6A 10Pts +1 +/-) , Trevor Smith (3G 7A 10Pts +8 +/-), and Mark Barberio (1G 9A 10Pts +7 +/-) are following close behind at 10  points each. In goal the Admirals are anchored by Dustin Tokarski (2-2-0) and Jaroslav Janus (3-0-1). Tokarski would be considered the number one man for the job, but Janus is making a strong case for himself.

The Admirals finish out the week with a game against game against the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday.

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
