Providence Falls To The Admirals 4-2

By Ken Peacock

The Norfolk Admirals were on their best behavior tonight in Providence. When I say best I mean not only did they try to stay out of the box, but they did their best to put the puck in the net. Providence had the advantage of being well rested and not playing since Sunday, but they were unable to put the points on the board. The Admirals improved their record to 6-2-0-1 while the Bruins dropped to 4-4-1-0.

The Admirals struck first with a Carter Ashton goal. Radko Gudas put a shot on goal that was stopped by Bruins goaltender Anton Khudobin. Carter Ashton was there to put in the tap-in goal past Khudobin. This was Ashton’s eighth goal of the season. Trevor Smith struck next for the Admirals with less than a minute in the first period.

The second period saw the Admirals J.T. Wyman  feeding a pass to Dana Tyrell. Tyrell one-timed the puck past Khudobin for a 3-0 Admiral lead almost three minutes into the second period. Craig Cunningham of the Bruins scored his first professional goal with less than four minutes left in the period to bring the Bruins a goal closer. The Admirals lead at the end of two was 3-1.

The Bruins found themselves shorthanded four minutes into the third period. Stefan Chaput caught the defense sleeping and put the puck behind Admiral goalie Dustin Tokarski for a shorthanded goal. The Admirals would answer back three minutes later as Alexandre Picard would connect with a pass to Jeff Dimmen who immediately deposited the puck behind the Bruin goalie for his first professional goal. Dimmen’s goal was on the power-play and this was the goal to seal a 4-2 Admirals victory.

Dustin Tokarski (3-2-0) turned in a solid performance stopping 20 of 22 shots. Bruin goalie Anton Khudobin (3-5-0) stopped 37 of 41 shots and took the loss for the Bruins.

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
