Game Day: Admirals Vs. Providence Bruins

By Ken Peacock

Norfolk rolls back into Providence for a second meeting with the Bruins in the last two weeks. The Admirals first trip was a solid 4 -2 victory over the Bruins. Norfolk is currently riding a two game losing streak and have seemed to have lost their scoring touch. Providence is coming off of a 3-2 shoot-out win over the Monarchs. Norfolk and Providence currently sit in second place in their respective divisions.

Zach Hamill (5G 5A +2) and Carter Camper (2G 6A 0 +/-) lead the Bruins is scoring. Matt Bartkowski (0G 4A +2), David Warsofsky (0G 4A 0 +/-), and Kevan Miller (0G 4A +2) lead the Bruins defense. Former Admirals Trent Whitfield has played 5 games for the Baby “B”‘s this year without a shot or an assist and is a -1. Anton Khudobin has seen the majority of the action in net and holds a 5W 6L record and a 3.07GAA.

The Admirals Trevor Smith (6G 9A +10), Carter Ashton (10G 4A +1), and Cory Conacher (4G 9A -1) lead the offense. Smith and Ashton were the lone scorers in the Admirals loss to the Bridgeport last night. Mark Barberio has been absent for the bluline the past two night due to an upper body injury in practice last week. Goalies Tokarski (3W 3L 2.98GAA) and Janus (4W 1L 3.10GAA) have both played well, but came up on the loosing end this weekend. Mattias Ritola was assigned to the Admirals from the Lightning. His presence only adds to an already formidable Norfolk offense.

The game tonight marks the end of the Admirals seven game road trip. Norfolk will return to the friendly confines of the Norfolk Scope to prepare for a Wednesday night meeting with the WB/S Penguins. If you have not already got your tickets then get them now as it is sure to be a great game.

Don’t miss out on any of the fan discussion at Norfolk AdmiralsZone.

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
