Offense and Defense Shine, Admirals Shut Out Bruins 3-0

By Ken Peacock

Playing three games in three nights is no easy task for any team, especially for the road team. The Admirals (8-4-0-1) did not look like a road weary team on the tail end of a weekend series. The Admirals offense was re-ignited and Dustin Tokarski shut down the Providence Bruins 3-0 in Providence. The Sunday night win brought and end to the Admirals road trip where they went 4-3-0-0. Norfolk returns home for a Wednesday night match with division rival WB/S Penguins.

Norfolk struck early in the contest when Pierre-Cedric Labrie tipped in a Dana Tyrell shot past Bruin net minder Michael Hutchinson at eight minute mark of the first period. Mike Angelidis would give the Admirals a two goal lead when Mike Angelidis beat Hutchinson from the right face off circle.

Both teams went scoreless in the second and most of the third. With just over five minutes left in the third, Pierre-Cedric Labrie fed the puck to Carter Ashton who paused and spun around in front of the Bruin goal and deposited the puck in the net. Dustin Tokarski would not allow the Bruins to score stopping all 37 shots that he faced tonight.

Both teams failed to convert on their power play opportunities. Labrie and Angelidis scored their second goals of the season. Tokarski earned his second shutout of the season. Carter Ashton leads the team and all AHL rookies with 11 goals this season.

Next up are the Penguins on Wednesday night. If you have not got your tickets then get them now!

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
