Game Day: Admirals Vs. Albany Devils

By Ken Peacock

The Norfolk Admirals are back on the road after a brief stop home game against the WB/S Penguins. The Admirals are hoping to rebound back after the 4-2 loss to the Pens. The Penguins stopped the Admirals offensive machine and outplayed the Admirals in their home arena.

The Devils (6-6-0-1) defeated the Admirals (8-5-0-1) 1-0 last Friday. They have had at least one point in their last five home games and are currently tied for third in the Northeast Division. The Devils are led by Joe Whitney (4G 5A -4) and Mike Sislo (4G 3A +1). Matthew Corrente (2G 5A +1) leads the defense. Jeff Frazee ( 2-4-1 3.54GAA) and Keith Kinkaid (3W 2L 1.98GAA) split time in the net for the Devils. Albany’s head coach is former Admiral, Rick “Killer” Kowalsky.

The Admirals are currently in second place in the East Divison behind the Penguins. The offense and defense need to step it up a notch or two and get things back on track.  Norfolk is led by Carter Ashton (11G 6A +4), Trevor Smith (6G 10A +12), and Cory Conacher (5G 10A -1).The Admirals defense is led by Mark Barberio (2G 9A +8). Dustin Tokarski (4-4 2.60GAA) and Jaroslv Janus (4-1-1 3.10GAA) have split the time between the posts for the Admirals.

The Admirals finish out the week with a rematch against the Penguins in Wilkes Barre/Scranton on Saturday.

Don’t miss out on any of the fan discussion at Norfolk AdmiralsZone.

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
