Admirals Fall to Devils 2-1 As Offensive Slump Continues.

By Ken Peacock

After being outplayed on Wednesday by the WB/S Penguins the Admirals needed to get things back in order. Albany would play the spoiler Friday denying the Admirals offense and giving Norfolk a 2-1 loss. They Admirals move on to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for a rematch with the Penguins tonight.

Albany (7-6-0-1) were the first to get on the board late into the first period. Steven Gionta and Matt Taormina scored back to back goals within two minutes of each other. The Devils took a 2-0 lead into the locker room.

Cory Conacher would get the Admirals (8-6-0-1) on board late into the second period for his sixth goal of the season. Conacher took a Mark Barberio pass and sent a slap shot past the glove hand of Keith Kinkaid and into the Devil net with four minutes remaining in the second period.

The third period was all defense. Norfolk out shot Albany 12-2, but the offense was unable to figure out Kinkaid. Jaroslav Janus played a relatively good game despite giving up the two back to back goals in the first period. Janus (4-2-1) stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced, while Kinkaid (4-2-1) stopped 24 of 25. Norfolk’s power play unit went 1 for 6 and Albany was 0 for 4.

The Admirals continue with their road trip tonight against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:05 p.m. Norfolk does not return home until Wednesday, November 23 for a match against the Charlotte Checkers.

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
