TAMPA BAY, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning recalled forward Blair Jones from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League today, Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced.
Jones, 6-foot-2, 216 pounds, began the season with the Lightning, playing in 10 games and recording one assist. He logged a season-high 11:12 in ice time October 22 vs. the Buffalo Sabres. Jones has appeared in 66 career NHL games, notching two goals and seven points. He was assigned to the Admirals on November 25.
A native of Central Butte, Saskatchewan, Jones has played in five games with Norfolk this season, notching two goals and four points with 16 penalty minutes. He has played in 324 career AHL games with Norfolk and the Springfield Falcons, recording 74 goals and 206 points. He represented Norfolk in the 2010 AHL All-Star Game, winning the hardest shot competition that year with a shot of 100.7 mph.
Jones played his junior hockey in the WHL with Moose Jaw and Red Deer. He played in 249 junior games, recording 61 goals and 112 assists. He was selected by the Lightning in the fourth round, 102nd overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
