Admirals Continue To Struggle With The Bears, Lose 4-3

By Ken Peacock

Defense and Goaltender struggle as the Norfolk Admirals (16-11-0-1) lose another to the Hershey Bears (15-7-3-1), 4-3. Norfolk hit the road to WB/S to take on the Penguins Saturday night and then on to Hershey for another try against the Bears.

The Bears took a 1-0 at 7:42 of the first on a Matthew Ford power play goal. Hershey would make it a 2-0 with their second power play goal of the night at 11:37 of the second period. Jacob Micfilkier passed to Graham Mink in front of the Norfolk goal. Mink shot on Tokarski and beat on the right side. The Admirals would answer back 5 minutes later on a Michel Ouellet goal.  Trevor Smith shot the puck on net and Ouellet deflected the shot through the legs of Braden Holtby at the 16:38 mark for his sixth goal of the season. Chris Bourque made it 3-1 with 18 seconds remaining in the second. Bourque’s goal was a shorthanded breakaway goal that Tokarski should have stopped. Hershey took the 3-1 lead into the locker room.

Norfolk started their comeback attempt at 4:05 of the third. Cory Conacher put in a rebound off of a Evan Oberg shot to put the Admirals within a goal of the Bears. Hershey recovered and made it 4-2 on Matthew Ford’s second goal of the night at 4:37.
Pierre-Cedric Labrie made it 4-3 less than one minute later at 5:11 of the third. Hershey had a couple of close calls as the Puck made it past Holtby, but the puck was swatted away or it met the metal goalpost. Norfolk could not put another puck past Holtby and Hershey took home another win.

Dustin Tokarski (10-7-0) stopped 17 of 21 shots in the loss, and Braden Holtby (9-6-1) stopped 31 of 34 shots in the win. Norfolk was 1-9 on the power play. Hershey was 2-6.

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
