Ups and Downs – Admiral Players On The Move

By Ken Peacock

The Admirals have a player recalled, release another, sign a college player, and are expected to have a player returned. Lot’s of movement in and out of Norfolk on this manic Monday.

First up was Pierre-Cedric Labrie being recalled to Tampa Bay. It looks like Labrie was recalled in response to an injury to Ryan Shannon. Labrie like Trevor Smith who was recalled last week will only be up with the big club until those players return to the Lightning line up.

Next up was ECHL standout player, Bryan Brutlag. Brutlag was released from his PTO only one day after signing the PTO. Brutlag was on his second cup of coffee with the Admirals. He played in rather well in Sunday’s game with the Checkers down in Charlotte. He will return to the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL.

Alex Killorn had a busy Monday. His college team, Harvard, was recently eliminated from the NCAA playoff picture. Today he signed a two year contract with the Lightning. He also signed a ATO agreement with Norfolk and will join the Admirals for the remainder of the season. Killorn was Harvard’s leading scorer. He also ranked third in the ECAC in goals and fourth in points.

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed goalie, Sebastian Caron, to a one year deal today. Caron, a former Admiral, was playing this year in Germany. He is expected to clear waivers and join the Lightning this week. With this move we should see the return Dustin Tokarski to the Norfolk Admirals.

As it stands right now we have 4 players up with Tampa. The chances of the Lightning making the playoffs are slim to none. When the Lightning are eliminated we would most likely see all four players returned. Tokarski will definitely be here sooner. Until then we will have to make do with what we have.    🙂  (Sarcasm Intended)

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
