Admirals Fall To Senators 4-3

Norfolk – It had to come to an end sometime, it had to happen. The Binghamton Senators handed Norfolk its first home loss since January 28, 2012. The Admirals (5-2-0-0) fell to the Senators (4-3-1-0) 4-3, Friday night at Scope. Emerson Etem netted his first two points of the season with 2 goals and Peter Holland contributed a goal in the Norfolk loss. Both teams will be back for more action Saturday at Scope. The puck drops at 7:15pm.

Both teams fought a  defensive first period and could not put the puck in the back of the net. The second period was a different story. Emerson Etem would start things off with a goal at 2:45 of the second period. Etem took a shot on net that Senators Goalie, Robin Lehner initially stopped. Etem batted down his own rebound and put it past Lehner for the goal. Sami Vatanen and Luca Caputi would get the assists. Andre Peterson of the Senators would answer back at 10:33 with a power play goal to tie the game. Peter Holland scored while the Admirals were on the power play at 14:24. Vatanen and Kyle Palmieri assisted on the goal. The Senators answered right back with a Hugh Jessiman goal at the 15:57 mark to tie the game 2-2. Mike Hoffman would give the Senators their first lead of the night at 19:02 to put them ahead 3-2 going into the lockerooms.

The third period opened up with Emerson Etem getting his second goal of the night at 1:14. Luca Caputi got his 2nd assist on the Norfolk goal. Binghamton sealed things up with a Patrick Wiercioch goal at 7:54. Binghamton shut the Admirals offense down for the remainder of the game and won the game 4-3.

Robin Lehner (28 saves, 31 shots) earned the win for the Senators. Igor Bobkov (33 saves, 37 shots) gave  lackluster performance in the loss. Norfolk was 1-for-5 on the power play. Binghamton was 1-for-3.

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
