Admirals Open Camp, Prepare For The New Season

Norfolk opened up camp at the Scope this past Tuesday. There were a few recognizable names returning, but there were more new names on the roster. All of the players are hoping to win a spot on the roster as the new season rapidly approaches.  Some will stick with the club, but the others are destined for the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL and other clubs.

Recent additions to the Admirals training camp roster:

Assigned to Norfolk (AHL) from Anaheim (NHL)
Max Friberg – Center/Left Wing
Kevin Gagne – Defenseman
Antoine Laganiere – Center
John Mitchell – Left Wing
Andrew O’Brien – Defenseman
Charlie Sarault – Center
Zack Stortini – Right Wing
Chris Wagner – Center/Right Wing
Stefan Warg – Defenseman
Steven Whitney – Center/Right Wing
Mat Clark – Defenseman
Joseph Cramarossa – Center/Left Wing
Kyle Cumiskey – Defenseman
John Gibson – Goaltender
Alex Grant – Defenseman
Stefan Noesen – Right Wing
Frederik Anderson – Goaltender

Released from pro tryout with Anaheim (NHL) and assigned to Norfolk (AHL)

Teigan Zahn – Defenseman
Garnet Exebly – Defenseman

Some familiar names from the Admirals last season remain in Anaheim fighting for a roster spot:
Emerson Etem, Peter Holland, Pat Maroon, Igor Bobkov, Kyle Palmieri, and Devante Smith-Pelley

The Admirals kick of the pre-season with a 11 a.m. game against the Charlotte Checkers tomorrow in Charlotte. Both teams will then return to Norfolk for a Saturday evening game at Scope. The Admirals return to Scope for the home opener on Friday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. against the Binghamton Senators.

I'm not the average hockey nut. It took a bit to grow, but when it did it was like a drug flowing in my veins. I am a season ticket holder of the Norfolk Admirals, longtime supporter of the Washington Capitals, and part time supporter of the Anaheim Ducks (It's hard, but it can be done). My blog is a result of the lack of good sources of Admirals information and happenings. Our paper provides very weak coverage and there is only so much the Admirals themselves can do. There are not to many blogs that cover the Admirals, and when they do it is just rehashed information from the club, the AHL. Nine times out of ten the blogger doesn't even live in the area or go to the games. So what do I want to do? Hmm...good question. I would use this as an outlet for getting out information about the Admirals. Not necessarily the information provided by official channels, but news and information from a fans point of view. Hopefully this is something I can accomplish. I am open to criticism, comments, contributions of infomation for the site. Thank You and Welcome......
